Job Description
First Call Locums are looking for Practice Nurses in Blaydon-on-tyne.
This opportunity offers flexible sessional work across various primary care services, providing options for nurses experienced in treatment room duties, chronic disease management and preventative health clinics.
Role Snapshot
• You will be placed into well-run practices with clear nursing templates, supportive clinical leadership, and strong administrative coordination to keep clinics flowing and documentation straightforward.
• Flexible sessions available, with options of up to 4 days per week depending on your preference.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver treatment room clinics including wound care, dressings, and ear irrigation where competent.
• Provide immunisations and vaccinations in line with national schedules and PGDs.
• Support chronic disease reviews such as asthma, COPD, and diabetes where trained.
• Carry out cervical cytology in line with competency and programme requirements.
• Undertake health promotion and preventative care interventions during appointments.
• Maintain accurate records, coding, and cold chain documentation where applicable.
Requirements
• NMC registration with recent UK general practice nursing experience.
• Competence in treatment room duties and familiarity with primary care protocols.
• Up-to-date immunisation knowledge and PGD experience where relevant.
• Chronic disease management qualifications are beneficial but not essential for all bookings.
• Strong documentation standards and an organised, patient-centred approach.
• Compliance documentation including DBS and mandatory training where applicable.
Working Pattern
• Locum sessions with flexible booking patterns across weekdays.
• Typical availability includes up to 4 days per week, with morning, afternoon, or full-day clinics.
• Clinic competencies required will be confirmed prior to booking.
